Bowl Game Update!!

Well there's honestly not much to update on, my sis just said I needed to update my blog (so this is for you sammy). So we are leaving on the 31st for New Orleans, it'll be just like the 2006 Armed Forces Bowl when we had to be at millionaire Air Port so early in the morning it should be illegal. I will admit, the best part last time was watching jared burnett go through the metal detectors... I'm not sure what set it off, but I swear it took half an hour before he could finally go through. To bad he's in tennessee, and he won't be my early morning entertainment. When we were finally on board the charter plane it was snowing soo hard that we had to de-ice the plane like three times. I'm not sure they really do it that many times, but it sure felt like it from inside. I can't complain, i'd much rather be flying than driving. Not that bussing isn't always terrible... just most of the time. Anyone that has ever been on a Band Bus for 15 hours knows exactly what i'm talking about (especially if there are percussionists... the constant tap tap tap will drive you insane!!!)
We should get into New Orleans around noon, and we are staying in the Marriot right off Bourbon Street. I've only traveled once with a Sousaphone, and i'm not gonna lie, it was kind of annoying. It's so worth it though, I love the sousa. It's heavy, and almost taller than me, but there's nothing else i'd rather march with. I think we have a rehearsal in the Super Dome a few hours later (i know... a rehearsal in the super dome!!!) but then we're free for New Years in New Orleans!!! I fully accept that I live in a bubble and I'm ok with that, we've gotten lecture after lecture about how we shouldn't get arrested or to drunk. I don't think I have to worry about that... I just want to find a good place to eat and listen to some AMAZING jazz music. I've heard horror stories of what goes on around Bourbon Street. And Mardi Gras is worse, but New years will be insane!! I'm so excited though!
After more rehearsals in the super dome (again... I just love saying it) and more pep rally's, hopefully we'll crush Alabama. I'm not that big into football, unless you're talking soccer, and I realy have no Idea how good Alabama is, but i'm sure it's going to be an amazing game.
After the game it's back to the busses, back to the plane, then back to salt lake. If it's anything like two years ago, we'll arive in the middle of a snow storm. I'll still be wearing shorts (it was warm in texas) and flip flops. I'm just glad it's after christmas, and we're not coming home Christmas Eve. And I don't think i'll be wearing flip flops and short in new orleans.

N'awlins!!

So the results are in!! I'm heading to New Orleans for the Bowl Game!! UofU vs. Alabama!! The Crimson muss vs. the Crimson tide. The Marching Utes vs... whoever there band is (I hear they have cool uniforms). We shall fly out on a charter plane in Millionaire Air Port on 30 December, partying for a few days (with some random pep rally's mixed in) then the game on 2 January. Probably flying home right after the game. Here are some pictures of what I have to look forward to :D
