Oh my Heck. It's my second Memorial Day on the mission! Crazy!!!!! Time goes way too fast.
So we had two awesome baptisms this weekend. Alanna and Tyler! Saturday was kind of hectic, but so worth it. Alanna's baptism was first. I'm so super proud of her. Tyler’s was a few hours later, and his dad was able to baptize him. His dad was baptized a month ago, and so this was super special for their family! It was amazing to see him be able to use the priesthood to bless his family.
I had two exchanges this week, both went extremely well. The first one was in Waipiolani with one of the sisters that I worked with at the Visitors Center. Her area is a lot of fun, and it's right in the middle of the island. It was weird being surrounded by mountains and not water. The second exchange was in Pearl City, which is in our zone. We had planned to do an activity involving sidewalk chalk, and bus stops. All day the weather was perfect. Then half an hour before we planned it, it started to rain so badly! Normally the rain storms don’t' last too long, so I figured "Lets just go and the rain will stop." So we went to the first bus stop and drew out the Plan of Salvation. That one worked alright. So we went to the next one (the plan was to come back and talk to people about it). Then it started to rain harder. And we had no where to go but we got to three bus stops, 2 of which you couldn't see 20 minutes later. But it was fun, and we did get to talk to a lot of people. Mostly they just asked us why we were doing this in the rain, but it opened up a lot for us to talk about! We were both soaking wet, and it stopped raining 15 minutes after just in time for our next appointment.
Memorial Day was uneventful for us. Sister Teururu was sick so we stayed inside most of the day. I did learn some patriotic songs on my ukulele, and wrote a lot of letters.
We had to speak in sacrament on Sunday. In order to waste time we planned a musical number, because we were originally told ten minutes each. Well the Saturday before we were told 20 minutes each. That night I clocked Sister Teururu's talk at 4 minutes. I had no idea where my 35 minutes was going to come from. Lucky for me she wasn't as scared as she thought (speaking in front of people for the first time, and in ENGLISH!) and she talked for 15 minutes! It was great. They bypassed the musical number because a lack of communication (darn...). But then someone found out after my talk and made us to it for the closing hymn. Good stuff. There are a lot of funnier details... ask me in 6 months.
So that's my week! Love you all,
Sister Bridge
